You play too!

You play together, start to finish. You're your child's partner on the mat, and the instructor shows you how each game works.

Roughhousing, with a coach

If your child already uses you as a jungle gym, this class gives it a goal. Every game gives your child a clear job to do, and you're the one they practice on. The games build balance and comfort with closeness.

Next up: Little Champs

Playing with you is how your child learns to play with a partner. When they're ready to participate in group classes, they move up to Little Champs, for ages 5 to 7, and their partners are kids their own age.

Come play with your child and see if it's a fit.

The Gracie Difference

How we teach 3 to 5 year olds

1. Play first

Our instructors show only what a game needs, then let the kids play.

2. Praise what goes right

When a child makes a mistake, we point out what they did right.

3. Stripes as they learn

Kids earn stripes on their belt, and we hand them out in front of the whole class. For many of them, it's their first real public achievement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What parents ask before the first class.

remove

What should we wear to the first class?

Comfortable clothes you can both move in. Grown-ups don't need a jiu-jitsu uniform.

remove

My child is shy with new people. How does that work?

Your child stays with you the whole time and can watch from beside you until they want to try. If they need a break, the two of you can step off the mat together.

remove

How rough is it?

You control it. You decide how hard to push and how softly to fall.

remove

Does my child have to sit still?

Not for long. Class moves from one short game to the next, and each child plays a game two or three times before the next one starts.
